SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS

Teaching our young people about God’s love and our savior Jesus is one of the great privileges of membership at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church.  Our children need the support of loving, committed adults to help them navigate their own faith journey. Our kids are divided into three age groups: Preschool/Kinder, 1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade.

Specific needs for fall & winter 2017:
1st-3rd grade teacher for 8:30am service.
4 weeks in a row of teaching and 4 weeks off.
Preschool-Kinder teacher for 9:45am service.
1-4 times/month.
1st-3rd grade teacher for 9:45am service.
2-3x a month.
4th-6th grade teacher for 9:45am service.
2-3x a month.

Time Commitment:
Approximately one hour of preparation before Sunday.
One hour Sunday morning (8:30am or 9:45am service).
One or two teacher meetings during the year.
We will work with your preferences in regards to how many times a month you would like to teach (ie, 2-3x a month or 1 month on and 1 month off).

A printed curriculum is provided to each teacher that includes a comprehensive teacher’s guide, supporting materials and take home sheets.

*Also looking for Sunday School Teacher Assistants for both services and all grades.  Assistants would help the assigned teacher with classroom materials, clean up, managing children and assisting them with activities.  No prep work necessary.

KIDS CLUB VOLUNTEERS

Kid’s Club is held on Thursdays from 4-5:45pm in the Family Life Center.  We offer this program in conjunction with the children’s choir so that families with multiple children can drop them off and pick them up at the same time.  We have snacks, do a craft and play active games.  Each group is between 12-25 kids.

The children are divided into the following age groups:
4-4:50pm – Grades 2-6
4:50-5:45pm – Ages 4 yrs. – 1st grade

Specific needs for fall & winter 2017:
Youth (7th grade & above) or Adult

  • Hands-on helpers from 4-6pm.  Hand out snacks, help kids with crafts, play games with them, and clean up.
  • Weekly craft preparation prior to Kid’s Club.  Plan crafts, gather materials, cut out shapes & assemble as necessary.
