June 9 | Doug Satre

Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships
Plant With Purpose USA

Rev. Doug Satre has pastored churches in Germany and Oregon and moved to San Diego in 2002 to serve as the Associate Pastor at Mount Soledad Presbyterian Church. Since 2008 he has worked with Plant With Purpose to help lead their Christian community development work, which has expanded to include nine country programs serving over 100,000 farming families.

Doug graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He later attended Fuller Seminary, earning his Master of Divinity. When he’s not working he loves spending time outdoors, especially skiing, hiking and gardening. He and his wife Kathryn have three grown children all of whom live in Southern California.

Grace Can Lead Us Home: A Christian Call to End Homelessness

Kevin is a writer and advocate working toward ending homelessness by engaging best practices. He has written on the intersections of homelessness and faith for Religion News Service, Sojourners, and more. He has presented, preached, and spoken on issues of homelessness across the United States.

Kevin’s first book released in August of 2022 and is titled, “Grace Can Lead Us Home: A Christian Call to End Homelessness.” Kevin currently lives with his wife and son in Minneapolis, MN, where he works as Housing Director at an organization addressing youth homelessness.

June 23 | Noel Musicha

Ebenezer Church Linda Vista

Noel (Noxy) Musicha was born and raised in Lilongwe, Malawi and is Congolese by heritage. He is the co-creator of a small but mighty church among the materially poor and diverse immigrants of San Diego. The church, Ebenezer, is transforming its town with everyday, practical Theology. He has a degree in Biblical studies and communications and a Masters in Public Administration. He also acknowledges playing football professionally, including his short stint with the Malawian National Team, as some of his quality education. Noel currently teaches at the University of San Diego, Pastors the community, and coaches youth football in between. Noel is a father of 3 - Jazarra (11), Theophilus (9), and Israel 6. He is married to his college friend Melissa, also a college and semi-professional football (soccer) player.

Children's Heritage Foundation

Steve has been a church planter, mega-church pastor and the founder of a home church network in downtown San Diego. In 2013, Steve became the executive director of Children's Heritage Foundation, a small non-profit focussed on transformational development through tangible acts of love in areas of extreme poverty. Steve is also a doctoral candidate, a Camino Santiago pilgrimage facilitator and certified coach. Steve and his family live in the small mountain town of Truckee, CA where they enjoy all things outdoors.

Seth (he/él) serves as Pastor at First Baptist Church of National Church (ABCUSA) and La Iglesia Fronteriza (interdenominational), offers spiritual direction and leadership coaching, gives leadership and theological training, and advocates for the people and places of our borderlands - especially Friendship Park. Seth lives in San Diego with his wife Verna and their two kids. He offers no-cost spiritual direction in-person and online through his pastoral role at FBC National City, and you can pray along with him on the free Insight Timer app.

July 14 | Rev. Sean Chow

San Diego Presbytery, 1001 Worshiping Communities

Rev. Dr. Sean Chow is the Executive Director of the San Diego Presbytery. He is leading the presbytery through a strategic vision to plant churches, revitalize churches, and be more missionally focused. Sean was the Associate for 1001 New Worshiping Communities for Training and Leadership Cohorts for the Presbyterian Church. He resources and consults with regional denomination bodies, churches, and church plants as they launch new creative expressions of church.

He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University (2005), Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary (2009) and a Doctor of Ministry at New York Theological Seminary (2022). Through it all, there is an inner desire is to be a part of a God driven movement that impacts the world for God’s glory. His aim is to prepare, equip, and sustain leaders to do the work in which God calls them. Sean is the author of “Rediscovering Vitality: A Handbook for Church Visioning and Missioning”. He is a frequent speaker to churches, committees, gatherings, and conferences.

Sean and his family live in Southern California where he can be found on a local tennis court having reconnected to an old passion.

Rev. Dr. Melissa Hofstetter is a Mennonite minister and a psychologist.  She is the executive director of Shepherd Heart, a ministry organization that cares for clergy and congregations through retreats, pastoral care, ministry consultation, and continued education.

Vice President of Spiritual Formation
International Justice Mission

Jim Martin serves as IJM’s Vice President of Spiritual Formation. In this role for over a decade, Jim has worked with IJM's global leaders to strengthen IJM’s foundation of Christian spiritual formation. Jim seeks to equip IJM staff worldwide to do the work of justice joyfully and sustainably with ever-deepening dependence on God.

Prior to this position, Jim served as IJM’s Vice President of Church Mobilization, where he led a team working to move churches to a deeper level of understanding of God's passion for justice. Before joining IJM, Jim was a pastor at The River Church in San Jose, CA. Over the years, Jim has spoken at churches, mission events and pastors’ conferences all over the world.

After hearing from Rev. Dr. Seth Clark about his experiences pastoring at the Border Church on July 7, we will have the opportunity to go as a group to a service at the Border Church on July 21. We will leave PLCPC at 12:00 to head down. Reach out to with any questions.

The Border Church / La Iglesia Fronteriza is a nonsectarian Christian ministry centered in the celebration of open-table communion on the U.S.-Mexico border. Since November 2011, people from both the United States and Mexico have gathered each Sunday afternoon to share communion at Friendship Park, the historic border meeting place at the western edge of the border, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.


We will have an opportunity to learn more about International Justice Mission after the cafe service at 11:30am in the Family Life Center on July 28.
