At Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, we believe that experiencing Jesus and transforming our world go hand in hand—and one way we live that out is by supporting Loaves & Fishes, a vital food ministry right in our own Ocean Beach community.
Loaves & Fishes has been serving our neighbors since 1977, and PLCPC has partnered with them from the very beginning. Operating rain or shine every Monday morning at Water’s Edge Church, Loaves & Fishes provides bags of food to over 250 individuals each week—including families, seniors, and those without homes. They go beyond food with hygiene kits, pet supplies, and clothing distribution, and they connect clients with community services like CalFresh and healthcare resources.
Even as government assistance programs have dwindled, the need has grown. Loaves & Fishes gave out over 10,000 bags of food in the past year alone! Through faithful volunteers and generous donations—many from our congregation—this small but mighty team continues to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need.
