Starting in January, we will begin preparations for construction on the 1960s-era building, which houses the larger Christian Education Building. As part of this project, the preschool classrooms currently in that building will temporarily relocate to classrooms in the Family Life Center and the old Library.
We hope everyone will participate in the Groundbreaking Ceremony on January 12, at 10:00 a.m. We will pray over the project, celebrate the beginning of a new era as the church community and mark this important day together.
The project will take place in two phases.
From January-May, Preschool classrooms 2,3 and 4 and TLC 2 will be relocated. When the renovations are complete in the 1960’s era building, they will move back into their newly renovated classrooms. In phase two of the project, from June -October, while our 1940s building is being renovated, TLC 3 and our youngest infant room will be temporarily relocated. The older infant room will not be affected by a temporary move and will go directly to its new home in the renovated space.
While the main entrances to the campus will remain the same, we ask that non-preschool visitors limit their movement and activities in the corridor between the Family Life Center and the Children’s Courtyard, as the temporary classrooms will be housed in the FLC. Additionally, the side parking lot next to the Family Life Center will be closed to parking for construction staging, but it will remain open as a pedestrian walkway and for wheelchair and stroller access.
We will provide regular updates on the progress of the construction and any campus changes on our website. Visit pointlomachurch.org/gen2gen for the latest information.
We’re excited to begin this new chapter! Please note that exact timelines may vary depending on permitting from the city and child care center licensing.
