Life is full of transitions—some expected, some not. From career shifts and family changes to aging and letting go, the path forward can feel uncertain. Join us for a peaceful weekend of rest, renewal, and spiritual encouragement as we explore the theme Weathering Change: Seeking Peace Amid Life’s Tough Transitions. Through Scripture, nature, and community, guest speaker Pastor Courtney Ellis will guide us in reconnecting with God’s steady presence through life’s storms.

This group of (mostly) retired guys meets weekly over coffee for a time to stay connected by sharing events from their busy lives. Those who can’t be present in person join via ZOOM. We then engage in a time of Bible study until we close with prayer at 10:00. Immediately afterwards some of us stay to carry out service and maintenance jobs around the church campus and the preschool, where the kids call us “the grandpa group.” We love it!
Second Thursday of the Month | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm | Parlor

Who we are: Chapter 78 of Prayers and Squares – The Prayer Quilt Ministry. We formed over twenty years ago and our chapter has provided over 2100 prayer quilts to people in need over that time period.
What we do: We make lap-sized quilts which are bound together with pearl cotton floss. When someone is in need of prayer, a quilt is requested, placed in front of the Sanctuary, and the people of the church “tie in prayers” by tying a knot in the floss as they pray.
Why we do it: We believe in the power of prayer, and we are grateful for our ability to use our time and talent to serve God while also enjoying the special relationships that have developed over the years. We believe that it is important that people have a tangible reminder that people are praying for them in whatever they are going through. Our guiding motto is; It’s not about the Quilt, it’s about the Prayers.

Clinicians and Spiritual Directors from our community joined host Evan Gratz on the Point Loma Church Podcast to further discuss the topics covered in the Hard Feelings Sermon Series. Every Thursday, we release a short devotional from a community member sharing which character in the Bible they are relating to most in this season and why as a way of reflection on our church's theme for this year: we are all Divinely Designed.
